Natural gas well capped on school-owned property

There’s been lot of activity on the property off Wildcat Drive north of 133rd Avenue and across from the Wayland Union Schools’ Transportation building. The property, owned by the Wayland Union School District, contains a low producing well for natural gas. Goodale Enterprises, sold the district the mineral rights to the well and now it is being capped. The scope of the project includes capping the well, removing the structure and closing the line with concrete, making it unusable. This project will allow for construction on the property. As enrollment continues to increase, this land would be the site for a future school building. (Photo supplied)

Not sure a school building would be appropriate, but I guess in the future if no one knows they are building over a capped natural gas well things should work out.
Again not being as knowledgeable as those in charge of such things…building over or near a capped natural gas well must be safer than building over or near a contaminated dump site.
    Guess time will tell
