Delton chalked up a 55-42 victory Tuesday over Martin in a girls’ hoop neighborhood rivalry contest.

A ten-point deficit plagued the Lady Clippers at halftime when they were trailing 22 to 12. The speedy Delton team remained on top despite a heroic effort led by sophomore Kiaya Warner.

Warner had a great overall performance, racking up 17 points to lead the Lady Clippers. Faith Guritz scored 8 points, while both Briana Balder and Freddie Elkins contributed 4 points.

Leading the Panthers was Senior Forward Lillian Howard with 13 points. Darcie McManus wasn’t far behind, putting up 12.

Putting the game into perspective, the Lady Clippers had a better night at the free throw line, making about 60 percent of their attempts.

The Martin girls’ season record fell to a 3-4 record as they head on a winter break practice schedule and anticipate their next opponent, Fennville, on Friday, Jan. 5.
