New part-time Martin Schools Superintendent is on the job and she issue a statement on starting her new adventure here and to introduce herself to the community and district.

Ballee-Stone, was chosen superintendent to succeed the retiring Dr. David Harnish last July.

She said in a prepared statement:

“I am very proud and humbled to be able to be the new captain at the helm of the Martin Clippers! My name is Brooke Ballee-Stone and I currently reside in Delton and have for the past 16 years. My husband’s name is Martie Stone and he and I have been married for almost six years now.

“I have three grown children: Melissa Henson (married to Chris Henson) who is a teacher living in Gallatin (near Nashville), TN; Justin Bock (married to Lisa Bays Bock), an accountant and they live in Sandusky, MI with my only adorable, ‘light of my life’ granddaughter, Emma; and Megan (Bock) Bracelin (married to Travis) who works in I.T. and lives in Kalamazoo.

I am going on my 28th year in education and have done just about every job K-12. Since I am ‘part-time,’ and I use that term loosely, I plan on being in the office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays during the school year. I will also make myself available by appointment on days I am not here if needed.

“It has been a whirlwind in July and time has flown by. We have made an offer to a new principal for the 7-12 Middle/High School position, but this will not be finalized until the special board meeting on Monday, Aug. 5. I can then put an introduction to him on the web site and on Facebook.

“We have also hired new first grade, fifth grade and sixth grade teachers along with looking to hire a new para-pro as a possibility.

“I very much hope to meet many of you at the sporting, band, club, etc., events. Please do not hesitate to come up and introduce yourselves!”
