A new trucking business is reported to be coming to Watson Township.
Supervisor Kevin Travis told Township Board colleagues Thursday night that a Holland man has purchased a 17-acre parcel next to the Park and Ride lot on M-222 near 12th Street. He intends to establish the business at that site.
Travis also told colleagues that Professional Code Inspections, building inspector, has indicated there has been an added $3.4 million in construction value with five site-built homes and two modular homes in 2019.
In other business at the Thursday evening meeting, the board:
- Approved the re-appointments Bev McKinnon and Shawn Caulder to three-year terms on the Planning Commission. Jay Roberts Eveland was appointed to e new term, succeeding Troy Baker, who declined to continue serving.
“Eveland, who was present at the meeting, said, “I am grateful that I can be utilized in some capacity for the township.”
- Learned that the DeLano Foundation of Allegan has contributed a grant of $2,642 for the Hopkins Area Fire Department to buy four pagers.
- Noted the annual county road millage meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, at the Allegan County Road Commission Building in Allegan.
- Reported that there is one vacancy on the Board of Review because John Andrysiak is retiring. A replacement is needed soon because the board will meet in March.
