The Dorr Township Board Thursday evening welcomed its two newest members and appointed them and several others to boards and commissions.
New Township Clerk Debbie Sewers was appointed as the board’s representative to serve on the Dorr-Leighton Sewer Board. She succeeds Patty Senneker, who no longer is on the Township Board.
New Township Trustee Terri Rios was appointed to be the board’s representative on the Planning Commission, succeeding former Clerk Brian Boot. The Planning Commission has been short one member since last winter after Township Trustee Dan Weber became unavailable for commission meetings the third Tuesday of each month because of a change in jobs. Boot then was appointed to succeed Weber, but he lost in the primary election to Sewers.
Also earning appointments were:
- Connie Holbrook, Eugene VanPutten and Carolyn Sandel to two-year terms on the Board of Review. Sandel, chairwoman of the special Roads Committee, replaces Sewers, who cannot serve any more because she was elected clerk.
- Al Weber, who was returned to the Parks Commission, though he did not seek re-election. He has agreed to serve for at least two more years on the five-member commission.
The Township Board also scheduled all meetings for 2017 to be held on the last Thursday of each month except for March, which will be March 23 in order to give board members time to discuss the annual budget, which must be adopted by April 1.
