Darrin and Julie Smith probably weren’t all that pleased that the Hopkins varsity football team was idle because of a forfeit from Kelloggsville Friday evening, but they were headed to Indianapolis to watch their oldest son, Nolan, play tight end for Concordia College Saturday. So, they missed seeing any action from younger son Trevor, a junior on the Viking squad in hopes of catching Nolan, a freshman at Concordia, 5-1 overall and a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Wolverine-Hoosier Conference (WHAC). Former Hopkins teammate Jake Cleypool also plays for Concordia as a sophomore lineman.
