Allegan County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 40-year-old armed man Monday morning after he barricaded himself with a woman and four children in Wayland Township.

Authorities were summoned to the residence at about 12:30 a.m. when they received a report that a woman and four children were inside the home with a suicidal man armed with a gun.

The Allegan County SWAT team conducted brief negotiations, and the Wayland Township man was arrested without incident.  The suspect’s name was not yet released.

Michigan State Police and the Barry County Sheriff’s deputies assisted in the incident.
