Hopkins this fall will play three O-K Silver Conference opponents twice . three schools are dropping football from league competition

Calvin Christian, NorthPointe Christian and Wyoming Lee are leaving and  Belding, Godwin Heights, Hopkins and Kelloggsville will remain to play each other twice to make up for the loss of contests.

O-K Conference Commissioner Dave Feenstra said all three schools have serious concerns about getting enough players. Lee had lost 34 games in a row in the Silver over the past seven seasons. NorthPointe is the only Class C school playing in any of the seven O-K Conferences. Calvin Christian also is C, but it has a co-op football program with Wyoming Potter’s House.

NorthPointe won the Silver Conference title in 2015, but was outscored a combined 189-46 in losses last year to Hopkins, Belding, Godwin and Kelloggsville.

Hopkins is the defending Silver champion from a year and it, Godwin and Belding made the post-season playoffs.

The O-K Silver is scheduled for realignment with the 2020-21 season. All seven current members of the Silver — Hopkins, Godwin, NorthPointe Christian, Calvin Christian, Belding, Wyoming Lee and Kelloggsville, will be joined by Sparta and Comstock Park.

The revised Hopkins schedule for this fall is  8/29 – at Ravenna, 9/6 – at Morley-Stanwood, 9/13 – Belding, 9/20 – Godwin Heights, 9/27 – at Kelloggsville. 10/4 – at Godwin Heights, 10/11 – at Belding, 10/18 – Kelloggsville, 10/25 – Menominee.
