The 100th Street bridge over US-131 just north of Dorr Friday morning was struck by a northbound semi-truck for the sixth time this year.
Reports say the overpass was hit around 4:15 a.m. The bridge was most recently grazed by a semi-truck Thursday, March 22.
It comes just after authorities had advised people not to participate in a Facebook event to bubble wrap the 100th Street overpass. The fun event, scheduled for Saturday, attracted the interest of more than 1,000 people, but Michigan State Police issued a warning against it.
The bridge was supposed to be raised about two feet for a 16-foot clearance, but there’s no timeline for Michigan Department of Transportation construction at this time.
Way too many truck drivers who should not be driving. Not qualified to be behind the wheel of these lethal weapons. Let’s get this under control with stricter enforcement of our laws and make the roads safer for cars, not these road hogs. Truck drivers are obnoxious and dangerous, not even mentioning expensive. Who do think will have to pay to replace this bridge? The taxpayers, that’s who.
