A threat circulated across social media caused swift reaction Wednesday night from Otsego school officials who closed school sessions for Thursday.

The threat of gun violence was made to both schools according to the official Otsego Public Schools Facebook page.

After the threat  was deemed not credible by Plainwell Public Saftey, Otsego Schools officials took to Facebook announcing closing for Thursday.

This comes just a day after one student was arrested for threatening to commit a school shooting at Otsego High School in the wake of the very public stories about the school shootings Feb. 14 in Parkland, Fla.

Both Plainwell and Otsego high schools joined Allegan High and participated in walkouts in response to the shootings in Florida on Wednesday.

Increased police presence will be in effect on both campus grounds.

At this time Plainwell schools has not canceled classes, but parents have commented that their kids will stay home.

I have a suggestion. Make it a prisonable felony for threat of violence on any school and enforce it.
