Ovarian cancer takes Christine Mauchmar Long, 62, of Wayland

photo_20160203_WM0059745_0_obit_photo_20160203Christine M. Long (Mauchmar), age 62, of Wayland died Tuesday after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer at Mercy Health Systems in Grand Rapids.
Christine was born on January 17, 1954 in Allegan to William and Bernadine “Cookie” (Steffes) Mauchmar. She married David W. Long Sr., who survives, on Feb. 26, 1972 . Her life’s love was being a mother and grandmother.
Christine is survived by her father William Mauchmar, husband Dave, children Becky (Nick) Volpe, David (Christina) Long Jr. and Katie Jo Long, granddaughter Brianna Volpe, siblings Vickie (Dave) May, Conrad (Mary) Mauchmar, William (Terri) Mauchmar, Rodney Mauchmar, Sharon (Clyde) La Duke, Douglas (Tammie) Mauchmar and Amy (Mark) Holloway along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, at Kubiak Cook Funeral Chapel in Wayland. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at St. Therese Catholic Church in Wayland with family receiving family and friends from 10 a.m. until time of mass. Private interment will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Wayland.
