Paul Goodwin, a 2008 Wayland High School graduate, has been named freshman football coach for Wayland High School.

Goodwin, who played four years of football at WHS and at Olivet College, has been on the staff for the football program as a varsity assistant since 2013. While in high school, he was an all-conference center and a defensive end.

Since being on the Wayland staff, he has been involved heavily as a line coach and with strength and conditioning.

His comes from a football family. His father, Doug, was a defensive back for the 1974 Wildcats, his uncle, Gilbert, was quarterback for the 1971 and 1972 squads, and his grandfather, Wayne, was youth football coach for 46 years, most of them as head of the 78er program.
