Allegan County Sheriff’s authorities have reported a pedestrian was struck and killed by an SUV Thursday evening in Leighton Township.
The SUV was traveling west on 137th Avenue just after 8 p.m. Thursday when it struck a pedestrian near the intersection with 6th Street.
The pedestrian was dead before first responders were able to arrive at the scene, sheriff’s deputies reported.
The driver of the SUV was the only person in the vehicle and was not injured.
Deputies have not yet release the names of either the deceased or the motorist. Authorities cleared 137th Avenue in order to continue the investigation.
