It was a Senior Night that didn’t disappoint for the martin boys’ basketball team as it grabbed a 47-44 win over Galesburg-Augusta that can be chalked up to perserverance.
Galesburg, an SAC rival for Martin, stayed ahead for most of the game. The Rams were up 35 to 26 at the half. Nevertheless, Martin persisted.
Carter Hilton headed the hoops effort for the Clippers, dropping in 16 points. Teammate Clayton Geerlings posted 14 and Freshman Collin Coburn got 8.
During pregame, Clipper seniors Canton Vandenberg and Logan Elkins received standing ovations for achievements throughout their school careers.
The Clippers now head into post-season district title hunt on their home court, where they will take on Kalamazoo Phoenix Monday evening.
