The annual Pine Street School Spine_st_spelling_bee_winnerspelling Bee was held Wednesday, Jan. 20, with 18 fifth- and sixth-graders competing for the title of “Best Speller.” A combination of oral spelling and vocabulary made up the 17 rounds it took to declare a winner. Elijah Kincaid, a fifth-grader, spelled the word “braille” correctly and then won the bee on “resume.” Runner-up was another fifth-grader, Summer Morrison. Both will move on to the Allegan County Spelling Bee at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, at the Wayland Middle School.
