Pokagon band member Kevin Hall of Hopkins dies

Kevin Hall of Hopkins died Friday, Oct. 29, 2021.

Kevin was born on May 5, 1964, in Mt. Pleasant to his late parents Isaac Hall, and Phoebe (Stevens “Pokagon”) Hall. Kevin graduated from Hopkins High School and was known for being a fierce football player.

He would take that same drive and energy into his career of construction and roofing. He was often found hunting, fishing and being one with nature. Kevin was incredibly hard working and diligent in everything he touched.

He was an avid member of his Pokagon tribe and would help numerous families and friends who needed a hand. Kevin was loyal, with a huge heart to serve and love his community.

He had become victorious in his sobriety for 23 years. This same discipline to conquer challenges transferred into his relationships in leading men and women out of their own addictions.

He was a lifelong member of Salem Indian Mission Church, where he consistently served on a weekly basis. He was like a father and uncle figure to many who did not have that role model in their lives.

Kevin is survived by his brother-in-law Dennis Taylor, and many nieces and nephews.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Jennifer Taylor, David Hall and Stephanie Hall.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, at the the Gorden Funeral Residence in Hopkins. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, in the Salem Indian Mission Church with a one-hour visitation beforehand. A 1 p.m. graveside will be at Salem township cemetery.

Luncheon will follow the graveside at the Burnips Township Hall.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Gun Lake Tribe AA organization
