Power was lost in the Wayland area community from just a little past 3 o’clock to a little after 5 p.m. Thursday. linemen from Consumers Energy and said that something happened at the substation by Baker Elementary School and at least a couple thousand residents were affected, including several downtown businesses. Wayland Union Schools consequently had to call off scheduled interscholastic athletic events.
