The community of Wayland was plunged into powerlessness Friday morning just before the start of the Summerfest celebration,
A nearby resident indicated, “A power pole was hit by the people working on the Steeby Elementary School parking lot. That’s why no one has power right now!”
Another Facebook user posted, “I just spoke with someone at Consumers about the multiple recent outages lately and was told they are going to put in a ticket to have things investigated further in our area since it keeps happening.”
A spokesperson from Consumers Energy posted, “We understand this power outage is an inconvenience and our crews are working to restore power as quickly as possible. Our system estimates power will be restored by 3:30 p.m. PM. This estimate is based on information from similar outages in this area. It could change if crews arrive on scene and get more information.”
