Central Michigan University’s Presley Hudson was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week for women’s basketball.
Hudson, a sophomore guard from Wayland, scored a career-high 36 points in leading the Chippewas to a 91-78 victory over Kent State in CMU’s MAC opener Saturday. Hudson, last year’s MAC Freshman of the Year, made a career-high eight 3-pointers (in 11 attempts) in the game.
Hudson’s 36 points tie her for third all-time in a game in program history, and her eight 3-pointers are the second most by a Chippewa in a single game.
Earlier in the week, Hudson had 10 points and six assists in a 79-69 nonconference loss at Middle Tennessee State. Hudson averaged 23.0 points, 5.5 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 3.0 steals in the two games while making 55.2 percent of her field goal attempts (16-for-29) including 56.3 percent of her triple tries (9-for-16).
Hudson is averaging a team-best 16.0 points per game, which ranks 10th in the MAC
She is a 2015 graduate of Wayland High School, where she earned all-state honors and was runner-up in the polling for Miss Basketball. Her father, Mike, is head boys’ varsity coach at Wayland and her older brother, Wes, is head coach of the Lady Wildcats.
