The amazing women’s collegiate basketball career of Wayland High School graduate Presley Hudson came to an end Saturday afternoon when Central Michigan lost to Michigan State in an 88-87 nail-biter.

The Chippewas concluded their campaign with a 25-8 record in the first round of the NCAA tournament at South Bend, Ind.

Hudson scored 20 points in her last college game and she nailed a crucial three-point field goal with 21 seconds to go to put CMU up 87-86, but the Spartans answered with just seven seconds showing on the clock.

Hudson finished with a boatload of individual school records, including most points on one game (43), most career assists (634), most career points (2,297), most career three-point field field goals (405) and highest free throw percentage, career and season (94.4%).

Her free throw percentage, on making 118 of 125 attempts, was the best in the nation.

Hudson, daughter of Wayland High School varsity basketball coach Mike Hudson and sister of Wayland girls’ varsity basketball coach Wes Hudson, was a Division 2 all-state selection as a Wildcat and she was runner-up in the 2015 balloting for Michigan’s Miss Basketball.
