Wayland High School graduate Presley Hudson is returning to the university where she became most famous on the basketball court.

Hudson, Central Michigan University’s all-time leading scorer and the leader of some of the best teams in program history, has joined coach Heather Oesterle‘s staff as director of player personnel, the same post she has held for the past year at Western Michigan University.

“I’m super excited to have the opportunity to bring Presley back to CMU,” said Oesterle, who is in her third year in charge of the program after nine as an assistant/associate head coach under Sue Guevara. “I’m looking forward to watching Presley work with Molly Davis and our other young point guards who will be here next season, Hanna Knoll and Lisa Tesson.

“Presley understands what it takes to win championships and the work that goes into it. She will be a great fit with our staff.”

Hudson was a four-time All-Mid-American Conference selection who scored a CMU-record 2,309 career points. She also holds the Chippewas’ career record for assists and was the free throw shooting champion in her season with a sizzling 94.3 percent.

A point guard, she led the Chippewas to four-consecutive MAC regular-season titles from 2016-20 and the MAC Tournament title in 2018. The team advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament in 2018.

Hudson played one year professionally in Europe and spent the 2020-21 season as an assistant under coach Shane Clipfell at Western Michigan.

While at Wayland High School she was an all-state selection and was runner-up in the balloting for the Miss Basketball crown.

She is the daughter of retired WHS boys’ basketball coach Mike Hudson and younger sister of Wes Hudson, current coach of the Lady Wildcats basketball team.
