Private family service for Ruth Genther, 99, planned

Ruth Anna Genther, age 99, died Friday, Jan. 15.

Ruth was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Dorr for 81 years and volunteered for Right to Life for many years. She loved her family, gardening and baking.

She is survived by her children Jack L. Genther, Marlene (Peter) Price, Terry (Sally) Genther, Ken (Diane) Genther, Donna (Tom) Damber, Keith (Cathy) Genther, Elaine (Gareth) Price; 30 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 33 great-great-grandchildren; siblings Robert VerStrate, Lyle VerStrate, John VerStrate, Virginia Quain, Barb Janovetz; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milo Genther; grandson, Scott Price; brothers Harold and Gerald Verstrate; sisters Wilma Vanderwal and Lois Verstrate.

Due to the current health crisis, a private family service will take place. Interment will follow at Burnips Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers and in memory of Ruth, contributions may be made to Grand Rapids Right to Life.
