Private service planned for Alexa Knooihuizen, only 28

Alexa Spencer Knooihuizen, a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hopkins, died Tuesday, April 21. She was 28.

She was born Oct. 15, 1991, in the daughter of Raymond and Julie Spencer and Jeff Crosby. Alexa was an avid swimmer and state qualifier at Plainwell High School. She also enjoyed track and field. She studied cosmetology at Empire Beauty School in Portage, becoming a licensed cosmetologist.

Alexa leaves behind her parents; her three children, Emersen Rose Spencer, Hazel Julianne Knooihuizen and Gabriel Alexander Spencer; her siblings, Kenneth (Gus) Snowdon, Bannon Snowdon, Coleman Snowdon, Paul Spencer, Dana Spencer and Christine Snowdon.

In accordance with recent regulations regarding the pandemic, and in an effort to maintain the health and safety of loved ones, her funeral will be held privately. Interment will take place in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Anyone wishing to have a private moment of prayer and pay their final respects to Alexa may visit Gorden Funeral Residence, 208 West Main St., Hopkins, Tuesday, April 28, 2020 between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The family will not be present. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran School, 4201 Burlingame Avenue SW, Wyoming, MI 49509.
