‘Punch Drunk’ ukulele band to visit next Rabbit River folk gathering

Punch Drunk, a ukulele band full oPunch Drunk carf energy and pizzazz, will be guest performer at the next Rabbit River folk gathering at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Vibrant Grains restaurant and Bakery, 142 S. Main St., Wayland.

Band members are John French, Sara Wagner and Chuck Deyo. They have played at many venues and festivals all over Michigan, from the Buttermilk Jamboree to the Mighty Uke Day.Punch Drunk2

“They play songs that you probably have never heard played on ukuleles,” said event organizer J.D. Gonzales. “Songs range from the 1920s jazz to today’s modern pop. You will enjoy the energy they bring with them. And this would be a good night to bring your own ukulele to join in the fun!”
An Open Mic night in Caledonia will be held at Essential Bean Coffee & Pub from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4 for a great night of local music.

“If you are a musician, be sure to sign up to play,” Gonzales added. “Joe Helsper does a great job organizing this monthly event.”
