A quick, but powerful storm passed through this area Tuesday afternoon, dropping the temperature by 20 degrees, producing rain and causing property damage. Officials at the Hastings Area Fire Department reported they responded to 14 calls for wires and trees down in an just an hour and a half. Their advice: “There were many trees and power lines across the road. Please use extreme caution traveling tonight and through tomorrow morning as trees and power lines may continue to fall throughout the night and can be difficult to see while driving. Remember, do not approach downed lines as they may still have power to them. Also if you come across any downed trees be extremely cautious of any power lines that may be in the tree branches.” (Cover photo courtesy of Rebecca Sue Olin-Chilla)
