Rachel Cimek, who was appointed assistant principal at Dorr Elementary last winter, now is serving as interim principal at Baker Elementary in Wayland.
Cimek succeeds Celeste Diehm, who resigned her post in August after serving for more than 18 years.
A former fifth-grade teacher at Hopkins Elementary School, she filled a vacancy last winter left by Robin Senura, who was elevated to principal in the wake of the resignation of Kevin Zaschak.
While at Hopkins, Cimek was nominated for the Outstanding People of Education award for five of the past six years.
It was reported that the permanent Baker principal’s position is expected to be filled at the beginning of next year.
High School Assistant Principal Mike Omness will offer part-time help at Baker during the interim period.
