I didn’t watch the Golden Globe Awards last night. I really don’t give a flying rat’s rear end who won what for what performance (although I have a weakness for Quentin Tarantino movies).
The emcee, Ricky Gervais, displayed what a disgrace Hollywood has become. And the people that allowed Hollywood to become the “golden idols” they’ve become is us. Yup you and me! The golden ones among us think they know what is best for all of us because they are on the silver screen or boob tube (TV to those of you not Baby Boomers), even though many are not educated but think they know more than any of us “unwashed” in the population just because they are admired, giving them a sense of privilege.
Gervais’ reference to Felicity Huffman made the plate for the limousine he was riding in was priceless. I don’t like people who cheat on anything, but folks let’s be honest here, all the people in that audience probably did the same thing for their college age Johnnie and Suzie. And most politicians probably do the same thing — buying their kids’ entrance to colleges of their choice.
And isn’t it amazing, on $174,000 per year for representatives and senators; keeping a residence in their district and living in Washington D.C., money for groceries or restaurants, clothing, cleaning of apparel, monthly bills, taxi fares, etc. and they manage after being there for a few or many years they come out of the legislative meat-grinder multimillionaires? How is that possible? Can you say “insider trading”? Can you say “graft and corruption.”
This is not one party or the other. It is all the Swamp Creatures.
I know people of modest means trying to get their child(ren) into local or state colleges and filling out form after form to allow them to have a better life than their parents and then there are people like Felicity Huffman paying thousands to get their kid(s) to the head of the line. Is it fair? No. But it is life, so get over it.
It ain’t gonna change until the public puts pressure on these overinflated assh@*^s and demand colleges stop the BS accepting buying entrance and level the playing field. I doubt it will ever happen, but that’s what it will take. Think how many deserving kids are not getting the shot they deserve to the college of their choice?
Some remarks about killing a scumbag
For those of you wringing your hands about the strike and killing of an Iranian official (I don’t want to honor him by using his name) — get a grip.
For years, the Iranians have had their asses kissed up to by both the Bushes, and more blatantly, by the Obama administrations. They were both weak and ineffectual foreign policy presidents and Iran sensed the weakness and did what they wanted throughout the Mideast with impunity. The powdered princes and ring knockers within the Pentagon and Chief of Staff are of the type that never saw combat, unlike the generals and upper military echelons of the past. Most have been so far away from the units they oversee, they have no concept of what soldiers go through any more. I bet there isn’t a “mustang” (enlisted given a field promotion to officer ranks) among them.
My commander, a full bird Colonel, was a P51 pilot during World War II and Korea. He was in the Army Air Corps as an enlisted mechanic but he had a pilot’s license he earned while a civilian, and they needed pilots. The rest is history. He retired a Colonel and had the respect of all who served under him. A gentleman and real man, standing up for right and for service members under his command. I never heard anyone say a bad word about the man, and that folks is rare in the service.
If you think this strike against the scumbag will worsen the terrorist activity, think again. They don’t need anything like this to get fired up, they hate us already. They were just waiting for the right time to unleash terror again, and it will happen. And I hope President Trump will take appropriate action.
And yes, I support the president in his scumbag strike and any following actions he deems necessary. He has much more information than the talking heads and pundits about what is happening in the Mideast, so support your president in these difficult decisions. If you don’t support him, that is your stance and detrimental to the country. We need to be united in a times such as these.
The rotting of America from within continues…
