Ranger Rick: Dorr’s Colonial Kitchen is on casualty list

Our illustrious and greasy-faced governor has spoken and deemed it acceptable to whatever her majesty thinks safe for us cretins and hillbillies.

To find out what is opening up and changes in CCC (Communist Chinese Coronavirus) please see your phone or computer for announcements.  I did notice she made sure she opened up northern Michigan just before she was going to the “cabin on the lake” near Traverse City.  Her husband must be on her “shit list” for calling the boat and dock installation people and pulling rank saying he was the governor’s husband.  God Bless the business owner not budging on sucking up and complying to his request.  They were placed on the list at the bottom!

I did see a list of businesses that are out of business, meaning they aren’t going to reopen…. ever.  Shut down, kaput, bankrupt, or just too tired of fighting for business and hoping state politics changes so they can open, all to no avail.  They decided it is better to close it up instead of losing more money trying to keep it alive.

One local establishment in Dorr, Colonial Kitchen, was on the list. One of my favorite places to frequent for a good cup of Joe and an omelette.  There aren’t too many businesses that were closed for three months that can afford or have the capital to weather the shutdown.

The businesses in Grand Rapids that were broken into during the riot and ransacked, there will probably be more closures.  So much for an aggressive police force when you need them.  Oh for the days of batons, dogs, fire hoses, and tear gas to quell a riot.  I guess Grand Rapids doesn’t have the stomach for such aggressive policing.

About Cats and Dogs, and George Floyd

We’ve had cats and dogs in our household, as many folks do.  Some with just a cat(s), some with a dog(s), some with both at the same time.  We’ve had all of the above at different times.  I’m a dog person, my significant other is a cat person.  I don’t particularly like cats, however, they seem to know I’m not a cat hater, so they congregate around me and expect me to pet them.  I usually comply and then they don’t leave, just hang around with a satisfied look on their face, purring and rubbing.

I love a good dog, however I don’t have one, she is just so so.  Of course, the behavior of the dog reflects on the training provided by the owner, which I must admit, is not good.  When on a bathroom run, she walks in front, pulling me to her favorite spot until I pull back in disgust on the leash.  Then she slows down so the old man can keep up.

Of course, she cannot go #2 until all spots are checked out, rain or shine, and the one smelling as a likely spot to squat.  When we go on a walk of any distance, she is on a short lead and walks beside me behaving, until she sees a squirrel or another dog.  She loves to ride and is a good traveler, so that is a plus. She enjoys swimming and chasing retriever toys.

But her favorite is chasing a tennis ball.  She is the third dog I’ve had of this breed and they all loved the tennis ball “Chuck It.”  I can throw it about 30-40 yards and she goes all out in finding it and bringing it back, over and over.

With all the riots and consternation in the news, I couldn’t bring myself to comment on the present state of affairs.  I will just give my heartfelt opinion — I looked at the film of George Floyd being “detained” on the ground with his hands cuffed and an officer with a knee to his neck.  There was no reason for this to happen.  He was under control.  Why didn’t they just place him in the patrol vehicle and take him to jail?  Case closed, no harm, no foul.

I understand the anger and the demonstrations/protests crying out for justice.  But when it went from demonstrations/protests to riots, looting, and assault, then the police should have been on the job and stopped it.  Now we have businesses looted and/or burned out or down.  How many of the people from the very neighborhoods used those stores for everyday needs?

An older black woman was interviewed in Atlanta on TV.  She was crying about what was she to do?  They burned down the area stores she used to shop for groceries and other life necessities.  See how this affects the very population causing the riots?

And how many toting off television sets had bigger televisions at home?  How many pairs of sneakers do you need? Free stuff – Wahoo!

The rotting of America from within continues…

Our thoughts totally. How many of the looters were laughing while runnng out with stolen goods? And the police are being investigated because some big mouth was sprayed with tear gas? Maybe the police force should just strike for about 10 days. Then what?? For sure we need CCTV in many areas. Watching the riots and looting and abuse to citizens makes me wonder, “and these people want respect?”

Very good read with very honest viewpoints. Thanks for keeping it real

  3. I am very proud of our Governor for what she did regarding shutting down our state . As far as opening up small segments of the State she did it while using Data , opening when she did may or may not have coincided with he vacation plans and whenever she opened she would have gotten grief from some segments of the state. As far as her husband asking for preference ????????‍♀️My god ,,, lets lock him up. Not saying it’s right but it didn’t happen, it’s very sad business had to close but it could have saved lives. Thank God for that ????. And to call our governor names is childish.

“It didn’t happen” are you serious? If it didn’t happen then why did they have to trot out that tired “it was just a joke” lie? Though I suppose “joke” is a good description for this administration. I’m just waiting to see if any of these “jokes” will have the intellectual honesty to call out this latest protest for spreading the virus like they did a few weeks ago.
