I read in awe of ignorance about the economic situation in the United States presently by our esteemed editor. His question was “…. how can stocks (equities) be doing so well when the health crisis and economic conditions and prospects for so many are tanking?”
Are you kidding me!
Despite what the media screams at you, don’t believe but about 1% of it. It is talking heads speaking gibberish. The economy is doing well because of the following:
• Low interest, easy money, and outrageous money printing. This will eventually create other problems such as inflation, but that is not a problem presently.
• Foreign investors must invest here in the United States to get any return for their money. There is no other place where money can be made in positive terms.
• “Working stiffs ” as the author puts it, have their 401Ks invested in the market. They are getting positive returns for their investments. There are more millionaires among us than at any other time.
• More companies are hiring and at good wages. With experience and a good work record of achievement, you are a gem in the mix they want and will pay for your attributes. Many high school graduates are making $15 to $25 per hour, depending on the responsibilities of the job.
• Look at how many company pensions are depending on the stock market performance.
• How is the market going up, up, up on average? Productivity and the reliance on the tech sector. The greatest gainers are in the tech sector overall.
Is there fear out there? Of course, but no more than at any other time in our history than during the world wars and the Great Depression. There should be fear if the Democrats get control of the White House because they vow to do the following: increase taxes, eliminate the oil industry and fracking, destroy the gains made to our military, open borders, citizenship for all illegals here, free college for all, a living wage (whatever that means — $15 per hour is what is cited), reparations for slavery, free housing, a good job, free food if you can’t provide yourself, free pot and beer, and pink and polka-dot ponies to ride!

Do yourself a favor. Spread your investments among many indices (various mutual funds and bonds) so as to guard against large losses, maybe invest in precious metals such as gold and silver, invest in land (there isn’t any more being made), possibly become a landlord in buying rental homes or apartments. Start a business if you’re so inclined. It isn’t easy, but it can be financially and personally rewarding. But it isn’t for everyone.
And I would own firearms and plenty of ammunition. Get a permit to own a firearm and go to the range to become proficient in its use. You see what is happening in liberal cities. It can and possibly will spread in the days, weeks, months, and years ahead.
Clearly you cannot depend on the police to defend you or your home and possessions. They answer to governors, mayors and other idiots who think these riots and looters are a good thing. The Democrats have lost control of the rioters and they like the conflict, so they don’t focus on the riots and looting.
Where is the honest media asking them to comment?
Did you ever think things would be as troubled as they are now with the riots, looting, burning of cities? It is time law enforcement, National Guard and others be brought on the scene of these areas in upheaval and get control. Make arrests and get the instigators of Marxism jailed, prosecuted and sent to prison. And charge those who are supplying support for these scumbags. Peaceful protests are one thing, these are completely out of control.

I think your logic is skewed a bit. First, the governors and mayors of our cities, blue or red, do not want or like rioting and looting as you say. Let’s not forget who is our president right now, a republican and just like any company, sports organization or country the blame goes to the top. Trump likes the blame game, always has always will. He won’t take responsibility because if he did then he would be pressured to offer a solution, he has none obviously.
Apparently you have a very short memory. When Obama was president, for eight years, he lead us out of a deep recession and grew the economy for 7 solid years. Creating jobs, saving the auto industry, lowering unemployment, building a solid coalition in foreign affairs, truly LEADING us during some bad times and ultimately good times. We are where we are because of Donald Trump. He does not know what he is doing and is in over his head. He made the comment in his first year, “this job is much harder than I thought.” It’s been down hill ever since with no end in sight-except for Joe Biden. True he will have to raise taxes after all Trump has us in such a deep financial deficit hole I don’t think my grand kids will see the end. To sum up, NO the democrats have not lost control of the rioters and looters, Donald Trump and the republicans have.

Sir, local police work for and are paid by local governments. The police get their authority from the court they serve; jurisdiction means under the authority of a court. Local cites having crime and riots are a local problem, with local jurisdiction. If your neighbor breaks into your home is it a federal issue? No it is not, it is a problem for the local county or State Police and the local government they work for. Riots in a city are a local problem, the Feds need to be asked to help out.
