Ranger Rick: How the weather is like economics

The disaster that is Florence will make an indelible mark on those having gone through the hurricane and enormous rainfall amounts. To those yelling “Global Warming, Global Climate Change, Carbon Emissions,” etc. causing this — get a grip.

You should be worried more about a Mini-Ice Age or the Yellowstone caldera exploding. From approximately August through November, hurricanes are a possible threat to the Caribbean and the Eastern Seaboard and have been since man existed. The reason Florence was so destructive and long-lived was the high pressure blocking its progress westward, stalling it for days over the Carolinas.

It wasn’t Al Gore or anything to do with his totally nonsense book. The theories put forth by his book have been proven to be nonsense. I remember throughout the 1970s it was the coming ice age being touted as the future. Then it was global warming, and since it quit warming since the late 1990s, they changed it to global climate change. You see how that works, it something doesn’t work, change the narrative, keep up the lie until the public is overwhelmed by the big lie, they finally accept it as truth (just like fake news).

But enough about how stupid people are hoodwinked by the media, supposedly smart people, educated in specialized fields who believe everything they read and hear in the media.

Economics is very much like the weather. If it is raining and flooding, do people wish the rain would continue, or stop? Of course, you would say stop. Then why is it when the economy slows down, Democrats would say raise taxes to make up the shortfall in the treasury! It’s like saying “The beatings will continue until morale improves.” The obvious answer is cut spending, but that word is verboten in Congress. In fact, I believe it has been removed from all dictionaries and spell checks on Capitol Hill, as that word is never spoken. We have to tighten our belts in tough times, but Congress never does — pour on the taxes and regulation!

President Donald Trump understands economics (An economics major from Wharton School of Economics at Pennsylvania University) and he proves it by cutting taxes, encouraging businesses to return from abroad, and remaking about the lousy trade deals with the European Union, NAFTA, China and Russia and making changes (tariffs) to put pressure on offenders.

He is probably the smartest president ever in the everyday use of leverage and raising economic activity. President Ronald Reagan was good and President John F. Kennedy also understood how to make the economy work. But Trump is extraordinary because he has done it in business and is applying economic thinking in running the country and we will all be better off because of it. Once the economy is really humming (it is thriving at the time of this writing), then we can address the debt. Remember, debt is the overall amount we owe to creditors (governments buying our treasury bonds (debt)) and deficit is the yearly shortfall of expenditures higher than revenue coming into the Treasury.

President Obama was very happy with 1 – 2% growth, no or very little interest for saving, very low CD rates, seniors getting screwed if they saved money and watching their principle being eaten up over the years. He said at one time the days of 3% or higher growth are over and Americans should get used to it. I guess President Trump missed that message. A good thing for America and Americans — growth, more opportunity, higher wages, and fair trade instead of getting screwed by other countries.

If you want to go back to the Obama years or no growth, no opportunity, no or little wage changes, please vote Democrat. You will soon see the change not only in your paycheck, but your employer may decide to return overseas or at least stop from returning jobs from overseas. Taxes will go up as will regulations. And your Second Amendment rights will be challenged and eventually overcome. Open borders will be the name of immigration – come on in! We won’t check for citizenship, you can vote (as long as it is Democrat), and you can get all the benefits Americans enjoy.

Ain’t America great? Once that starts, it won’t be great for long. You want proof — look at California — becoming a third world country with homeless crapping on the streets of San Francisco, drug use rampant, sanctuary cities, highest taxes in America, more regulation than any other state — Jerry Brown’s paradise. They don’t call him Gov. Moonbeam for nothing.

The rotting of America continues unabated…
