Ranger Rick: Support clean energy when we can do it

In Pittsburgh last month in front of union workers, Vice President Joe Biden said “I’m not banning fracking.  No matter how many times Donald Trump lies about me.”

During the Democrat primary in March, Sen. Bernie Sanders said “I’m talking about stopping fracking as soon as we possibly can…”  Biden replied “So am I.”

After the debate, Biden’s campaign issued a retraction, meaning this isn’t really what the former vice president meant to say.  Really?  He’s old and loses his train of thought; he can’t be expected to remember his latest position on fracking every week.  His latest flip flop is no drilling permits on federal lands.

The Biden zero-carbon emissions target requires no fossil fuel production and consumption 15 years from now.  We currently get 80% of our energy from oil, gas and coal. Getting down to 0% is going to be a gut-wrenching experience for blue collar workers according to world experts on energy.  The industry accounts between 5 million and 10 million jobs, depending on how you count them.  Where will those jobs be replaced?

The United States is now the leader in the world in oil and gas production, surpassing Saudi Arabia in output.  President Trump’s all-in strategy in no small part made the United States energy dominant.

So in Biden’s new energy world, we will have to get it from Russia and Saudi Arabia instead of the United States producing it ourselves.  How does that set with you?

I’m all for zero percent emissions for the world, including the United States.  If and when all propulsion engines can be replaced with another form of propulsion (which includes semi-tractors, heavy equipment, passenger vehicles (autos, SUVs and trucks), commercial buses, and all other forms of engine powered devices we used now in abundance, in a viable and cost effective manner, I’m in.

When I can drive my truck with a 18-foot boat to Canada and back with a battery powered truck and boat with the same range and power I have now, I’m all in.  I’m not against battery powered vehicles, they just won’t trailer a 18-foot boat all day without a recharge.  And the boat needs an electric motor that performs like my gas motor, which is a dream at this time.

Until then, I’m all for fracking and having the United States energy independent.  And for those of you who disagree, are you all driving electric vehicles now?  If not, don’t be hypocrites and attack me for my supporting independent energy status.

The rotting of America from within continues…
