Not being a particular Ranger Rick Art_7_0_0outwardly religious person, inside, I am blessed with my love of Jesus Christ and consider myself a Christian. I see the decline of people describing themselves as Christian and church attendance is at an all-time low. During the decline of religion, I see the rise of hatred, confusion, anger and aggression – from angry words to outright physical assault.

As we have strayed further and further from God, we grow more feral in our dealings with each other. What is the answer?

Being a reader of history (my favorite subject in high school), I look to the writings of our Founding Fathers as a guide.   The one quote in Psalms “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord” is the cornerstone of thought in the early republic.

Examples of religion in daily and government life in early America:

“It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor” – George Washington

“We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” – John Adams

“Before any man can be considered as a member of a civil society, he must be considered as a subject of the Governor of the Universe.” – James Madison

“And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; His justice cannot sleep forever.” — Thomas Jefferson

“The Bible is the best of all books, for it is the word of God and teaches us the way to be happy in this world and in the next. Continue therefore to read it and regulate your life by its precepts.” — John Jay: First Chief Justice

We have strayed far from our roots. As a majority we no longer worship God and use His name and word in conversation. We would rather shun and laugh at those who do. And you wonder why the country is falling apart? No belief in anything except those things that are fleeting; cell phones, television, video games, music featuring sexual and violent lyrics. Nothing with wholesome content – remember television and radio that didn’t feature sex and vulgar content? Remember when they had programming telling a good story line or lyrics?

With all the advances and scientific discoveries, daily life being easier, shopping can be done on the internet – with all those “improvements” we are as depressed and sick a society as we have ever been. More medicine for depression, more pills for aches and pain, more suicides, more death, more unhappy people – we are a sick nation.

The destruction and rotting of the country from within continues…
