Ranger Rick: We shouldn’t be scared of no COVID-19

What is it now, nine weeks of stay at home order under way and to continue until June 12 (so far).?

The governor has redone those orders how many times now?  Wasn’t it convenient she ordered that the Upper Peninsula and Northern Lower Michigan was open now before the weekend?  Couldn’t be because she had plans to visit up north was it?

I heard a rumor it was because of a graduation.  But I’m sure it was just that — a rumor.  I wonder if she and the family were on a lake enjoying themselves?

When you look at the cases in the Upper Peninsula (near zero) and northern lower (very small numbers of cases), they should have opened weeks ago.

Is everyone so afraid of this virus they refuse to go out in the fresh air and sunshine, where the virus hasn’t a chance to survive?  Or is it only safe inside the house?  What about going out to buy groceries, buy gas, go to the hardware store or repair shop?  Are we so afraid of what the media has been spewing we are like sheep?

For those of you so afraid of contracting the virus, please stay home.  For the rest of us, let’s get to work as soon as possible.  This governor likes to use power and kill the American spirit. If you agree with her, please follow her orders and be sheeple.  Vote for her next time if you think she is doing an admirable job of keeping Michigan closed.

For those who think we’ve been quarantined enough, please in the next election, vote for someone else.  She has proven she is a poor leader and loves power, but hates who she governs.  Compromise with the legislature is not in her vocabulary.

Biden can’t keep his foot out of his mouth

Former Vice President Biden continues to put his foot, knee, and leg in his mouth, contending that if you are Black (African-American) and voting for Trump, you ain’t Black (African-American!  Whaaaaaaaaat?  What did he say?  Joe, say it ain’t so!

From hair sniffing, to allegedly fondling subordinates, to forgetting where he is at and fumbling in his speeches and forgetting his train of thought, folks, he is half the politician he was just four short years ago.  But some will say that is OK, he’s better than what presently is in the White House.  Really?

I won’t speak for President Trump, just give my own opinion (and everyone has one), he is the best president in my lifetime.  More done in three-plus years than anyone I can remember.  Higher pay, more jobs, the Wall started, high stock market, making America the leading oil producer, better trade deals, and then the Communist China Coronavirus hit.  And America lost her way.

A virus that has no cure yet, and everyone is terrified because the media hype.  I remember when I was a kid the big disease was polio.  Did they shut down the economy because of it? No, those contracting it were quarantined.  Jonas Salk created a vaccine and we took doses of it on sugar cubes.  Those who were affected before the vaccine were mildly to severely affected. I knew a few kids, some with limps, some with braces and crutches.

I know this virus can be deadly to those older, and afflicted with diabetes, overweight and in poor health.  Others are similarly affected if they are susceptible regardless of age, but generally it is the older population most severely affected.

But this cannot go on forever, we as Americans aren’t made that way.  We meet the challenge, overcome any obstacle, and persevere.

I’m afraid we have become soft both in spirit and mentally.  This isn’t the country of my youth I recognize.  Politicians like to use power and they have bamboozled most of the population into believing they know what is best.

Will this virus recede and possibly return?  Maybe.  Should we be afraid? Never.  Social distance, mask up and keep your wits.  We will get through this.  You are Americans — start acting like it.
