Ranger Rick: Why did young people turn on the U.S.?

When I was a young man, I revered two things — the military and law enforcement.  Most older men I knew were in World War II and/or Korea and my older peers were being drafted into the service during Vietnam.

The WWII/Korea veterans were idolized because of their service, many for years of fighting in Europe, Africa and later Korea.  I knew one soldier who served in Africa, was wounded, healed, and was reassigned to the invasion of Italy theatre of battle.

Some of these men were in law enforcement when they returned, either local, county or state police.  They seemed bigger than life to a kid of 10, 11, 12 years old.  Later, my older friends and peers served in Vietnam, some never to return, and if they did, were not treated well.  They wore physical battle scars, but many suffered life-long mental anguish.

No matter what service they were part of, both Democrats and Republicans were Americans first, and you always answered your country when called.  They were Americans, and those people they met overseas knew what that meant and most were envious and wanted to become American citizens if allowed.

Now we have people who have been pampered and put on a pedestal as young people about to take the reins of power as people in their mid-late twenties and early thirties.  Many are college educated white and African-Americans and for some reason have a visceral hatred of the United States.

Where was that hate created?  Why was that hate fomented?  Why is it that some college professors are so enamored with socialism/communism when none of them have experienced it first hand?  And why do they always think it would be a good thing for America?

The college campuses of recent years are not the places you experienced when you were in college during the ’70s, ’80s or ’90s.  Some people dabbled in socialism and radicalism, but the majority came from two-parent families that provided a sound basis of American traditions and ideals.  Work hard, tell the truth, treat people that way you’d want to be treated, be kind to others.

What happened to turn young adults into raving maniacs?  Why are so many BLM and Antifa people white young males and females?  Didn’t they get everything most of us didn’t get during our young years?  Weren’t they born with silver spoons in their mouths or some other orifice?  What tragic things were happening in their young lives to turn them against their own country?

I’m sure our resident Democrat supporters will say they’ve been oppressed.  They aren’t being heard.  They aren’t satisfied with how others are being treated.  They want things their way and they aren’t about to stop protesting, rioting and looting until they do.

More police are targets of these thugs.  Hundreds of police are retiring or quitting because it isn’t worth it being an officer, being paid $50,000, and putting their lives on the line every day.  Random shootings and killing of officers are ramping up and there are no comments from Democrats to condemn these shootings and all the violence surrounding the events in various cities across America.  Who do you call when you need immediate help because someone broke in your house, assaulted, raped, or shot you?  It ain’t BLM or Antifa!

Do you wonder why gun shops are busier than ever, selling weapons and ammunition so that it is hard to find them because they can’t restock quickly enough.  Don’t believe me, stop by any gun shop.  It is not a “white thing.” I was at a gun shop recently and all colors were represented at the gun counter.  Everything from pistols, revolvers, shotguns and rifles were being purchased.  I also saw two people be turned down because their background FBI check revealed something that disallowed them from purchasing.

The carnage continues in big cities, black on black crime, especially in Chicago, is increasing.  Fifty people last weekend were shot, in a city that doesn’t allow firearms!  Fourteen of those people died.  But BLM and Antifa don’t give a damn about those lives.  There isn’t any sensationalism with those lives.  Only when cops are involved.

The country cannot continue letting BLM and Antifa riot, loot and kill.  It is time to shut these thugs down.  However it is done, be it each state or federal intervention, it must be done.  To do anything less is to allow anarchists and thugs to do as they please, when they want.  The only way to fight evil is by force.  They know and respect no other way.

If Biden and Harris are elected, this activity will increase.  Count on it.

The rotting of America from within continues…

You call rioting, looting , and burning houses and businesses protesting? You must be certifiably nuts!
Did you join the riot in Grand Rapids? See how that was handled correctly by law enforcement and National Guard?
      Get a life.

You state people of your age always answered when your country called. Did your idol Trump?

If the President..Donald Trump was classified as 4F with bone spurs he could not have been drafted or enlisted.
You must not come from the Vietnam generation. Where you went to war fled to Canada or Mexico to avoid the draft.. or hopefully got a deferment.
Vietnam was possibly this Country’s most unpopular war…dare I say even more unpopular than our current President

    Mr./Ms. reader,
And your idol Vice President Biden? He received the same 1-Y deferment as President Trump. Biden received five medical deferments the truth is a pesky thing isn’t it!

Biden is not a good candidate in my opinion either. But I don’t go around spouting off how great he is or defending him when he lies or cheats the American people, unlike you with Trump. Yes, the truth is pesky. Just ask trump

    Harry,

We all know how trump avoids the truth like he avoids masks. He calls vets “losers and suckers.”. Do you really believe his bone spurs story with his history of lies?

    RR,
I’m curious, not argumentative, but have you been on college campuses and in college classrooms to see and hear socialist teachings?
I don’t have a lot of interaction with young people, especially in this COVID isolation, but none of the young folks I know have socialist/communist leanings, and they don’t engage in violent protest or vandalism. They are busy getting an education and figuring out how to pay for it.
So, purely as a point of interest, I’d like to know about your campus and classroom experience.
    Thanks.

No violence on campuses of University of California Merced, nor CalPoly San Luis Obispo. Students seem political/socially aware, Unlike my college “Happy days of 1950’s” when students seemed oblivious to the real world. Korea was winding down and way over there.

Ranger Rick, for better or worse, your life has not been even slightly affected by BLM or antifa. Everyone knows this. You are mindlessly parroting the trumpee boogeyman du jour. You are proliferating fear and hate and misinformation. Right now that’s about as un-American as it gets.

    • Don't Tread On Me

Of which anarchist party do you belong? BLM or Antifa? Did you have a fun time in downtown Grand Rapids rioting?

As for your statement no one is hurt by BLM or Antifa, oh, contrare my good man. Insurance rates will rise. The millions and billions of damage to businesses, state and federal buildings. Your taxes up in smoke!
But your lack of understanding has been clouded by your socialist background. You need to open your world to what sustains your lifestyle – capitalism – and a republic which bestows upon you and yours freedom and liberty. Know it, love it, live it.

Ranger Rick is right that the millennials do not respect establishment, whether government or just cultural traditions. Similar to the upheaval of the 1960’s, there is violence. Then, police dogs and an axe handle governor eventually resulted in many reforms from racial injustice. I see most present violence as backlash to the Obama reforms. Trump’s rhetoric incites violence across the political spectrum. The concept of “stand your ground” has taken root in radicals, both left or right. “Come let us reason together” died with Johnson. It is my hope that “Sleepy Joe” will calm U.S. all down.
