Renee Wise has been selected by Main Street as market manager for the Wayland Farmers Market.

Ms. Wise will be doing all things market, from helping to find farmers, setting up, planning events and more.

“I was born and raised in Pennsylvania, but moved to Western Michigan almost two years ago,” she said. “I fell in love with Wayland the first time I came to look at a house here and now proudly call it home.

“I spent most of my life raising three children as a stay-at-home mom and worked part time jobs for fun. I have owned my own dog grooming business, was a cosmetology teacher and am currently in real estate.”

While living in Pennsylvania, she worked at a garden center, where she was taught all about trees, plants, flowers and shrubs.

“Gardening is my favorite pastime,” she said. “I have redone the landscaping in my front yard and have a vegetable garden during the summer. In the past I had my own backyard greenhouse where I grew several citrus trees.

“Being the Farmer’s Market manager is going to be very challenging, but a lot of fun. Moving the market to its new, bigger location, I get to watch it grow. I’m looking forward to more vendors and customers to buy their products. They do say variety is the spice of life!I can’t wait to meet you all and look forward to serving you!”

The Farmers Market has been moved back this year to the City Park from its location next to the library.
