The Martin Area Resource Center south of downtown on 10th Street is preparing the garden that provides produce for the local community.
Volunteers will be putting down plastic for melons and peppers Saturday morning, May 10.
Spokesman Harvey Visser said, “This is a good weed control measure without resorting to use of harmful chemicals.”
Planting of baby plants, planned for Saturday, May 17, will include vegetables growing in the greenhouse, such as tomatoes, peppers, squash, onions and melons.
Visser added, “Looking forward to seeing you. Just show up and roll up your sleeves.”
