Area retirees group shares recipe for burnt grapes dish

Burnt Grapes

This delicious recipe was brought back from a small community of retirees who were gracious enough to share a favorite of theirs. And yes, the name of this is burnt grapes! I’m guessing from the brown caramel

topping as there is not a hint of a burnt flavor to be found. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

5 cups seedless red or green grapes
2 cups sour cream
1/2 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup dark brown sugar

Directions:

Wash the grapes, set aside to dry. In a large bowl mix together the sour cream, sugar and vanilla. When the grapes are dry give the sour cream mixture one more good stir, adding in the grapes, and pour into a 9×13 pan or you could do individual serving dishes. Bring butter and brown sugar to a good rolling boil; immediately drizzle over grapes. Not stirring. Chill for 1 to 2 hours.

Variations: Substitute fresh raspberries, blackberries, sliced peaches, strawberries, etc.
