The Wayland City Planning Commission decided Tuesday night to recommend a request from Jon and Don Rose to rezone a parcel at 236 Railroad St. from Light industrial to general business district (B-2).
Jason Derry of Professional Code Inspections described the parcel as “a little island of I-1 (light industrial) surrounded by B-2 businesses.”
He later added that the rezoning “gets them where they want to do.”
The Roses family matriarch told the Planning Commission that the family has owned the parcel for 50 years and there was a building on site until 16 years ago, when a lightning strike destroyed it.
“We’re looking to improve that area,” she said.
There was nothing is the way of objections expressed, so now the commission’s recommendation will be taken up in a first reading of an ordinance at the City Council’s Set. 18 meeting and again for a second reading Oct. 2.
