Robert Romeo, 74, wants those attending funeral to wear baseball hats

Robert Vincent Romeo, age 74 of Wayland, died Friday, Oct. 15.

He was the son of Amelia and Vincent Romeo, born and raised in Baltimore, Md. Robert had a profound love for the game of baseball which began as a pitcher at the age of 6 on the Brems Boys Club team. He also shared the love of many rescue pets with his wife, Leslie, over the years.

Robert served in the 709 Military Police Battalion from 1967-1968.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Leslie Romeo, whom he married on Feb. 5, 1966 in Warrington, NC; three daughters, Valerie Romeo (Lori Bramble), Sarah Strother (Scott), Laura McCall (Aaron); grandchildren Brittany (Andrew) Lerch, Melissa McCall, Megan McCall, Faith Eaton, Jessica Strother, Jaedon Strother; great-grandchildren Jordan Lerch, Penelope Lerch, Hollie Kenny, Chloe O’Chocke, and Charlotte O’Chocke; siblings Edmund (Jean) Romeo; nephews Timothy and Michael Romeo; niece, Lisa Silvestri; in-laws Holly (Mark) Biscoe and children, Thomas (Marcie) Gwin Jr. and children; fur babies Whitney and Toots; many cousins and friends.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, with an hour of visitation prior at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 312 North Main St., Wayland. Family would like all guests to wear their favorite baseball team hat. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery.
