The Dorr Township Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) elected officers for 2017 at its March 16 quarterly meeting.

Elected unanimously were Robert Traxler to serve a second term as Chairman, Jim Vote to be vice chairman, a new position this term, and re-elected Ethel Visser, who has served on the ZBA for more than 41 years, the recording secretary. Mrs. Visser was commended by all members of the ZBA for the high quality of her work as secretary and her decades of selfless service.

Traxler also serves as vice chairman of the Dorr Township Planning Commission.

The ZBA is expecting an increase in requests for appeals of the zoning regulations with the increase in development in Dorr Township that is forecast this year.

Other ZBA members are Les Myers and Jim Schaendorf.

Congratulations, Bob. You don't just talk about governance. You do it. Evidently you've done well in your role, as evidenced by re-election. I suspect that approach your work with thoroughness and diligence.

Mr. Basura, Sir, Thank you kindly. The real story is Mrs. Visser. Ethel is a Great Grandmother who has a small mobility problem, but she is an outstanding example of a bedrock American, who serves all the good folks in Dorr.
