The roof above the Dollar General store in downtown Wayland collapsed late Tuesday night under the strain of excess snow and ice in recent storms. Crews were on the scene for cleanup Wednesday morning. The building in the 100 block of West Superior Street once was the location for Nickel’s Drugs, operated by Ed Nickels and later pharmacist Dennis Nickels.
