Santino Di Cesare has been selected as new principal at Wayland Union High School, pending school board approval.

Di Cesare, a graduate of Wayland High School, succeeds Tom Cutler, who recently announced his retirement at the end of the academic year.

After being hired as assistant principal/athletic director in 2017, Dei Cesare has been assistant principal since March 2018. Prior to coming to Wayland, he was employed with Muskegon Oakridge Public School as athletic director for the middle and high school. Prior to serving at Oakridge, he was athletic director for grades 7-12 at The Potter’s House High School and Middle School in Wyoming.

Di Cesare also worked in collegiate athletics at Hope College in multiple capacities. He received a bachelor’s degree in athletic administration from Hope College, and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Grand Valley State University.

While attending Hope College he earned the status of a four year letter winner, All-Conference, and All-American in football as a defensive back for the Flying Dutch. While at Wayland, he competed in three sports.

“I am extremely excited and thankful for the opportunity to continue to serve Wayland students, staff, parents and community in a new role as the high school principal,” Di Cesare said. As always, I am proud to be a Wildcat. Go Cats! “

Superintendent Dr, Christina Hinds said, “Mr. Di Cesare cares deeply for our Wayland Union students, staff, and families. He is vested in our community, is a servant leader, and is passionate about ensuring all voices are heard. I am confident in his ability to provide our high school with courageous and compassionate leadership for years to come.”
