Edward Lipski’s funeral to include military honors

Michael “Sarge” Edward Lipski, 69, of Shelbyville, died early Wednesday Jan. 5.

Michael was born October 2, 1952 in Grand Rapids, to Edward and Louise Lipski.

He was a graduate of West Catholic High School, Class of 1972. Michael was drafted into the Army in 1972 and served in Germany before re-enlisting years later to serve again as an Army Reserve in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He was honorably discharged with the rank of E-6 (Staff Sergeant).

Michael enjoyed sports and the outdoors, but he especially loved hunting, fishing, coaching, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his mother, Louise; his sister, Gail (David) Shustha; his brother, Larry Lipski; his children Laura (David) Baird and Matthew (Amy) Lipski; his grandchildren Alyssa, Jonathan, Elisabeth, Aurora, Scarlett, Elijah, and Aletheia; numerous nieces and nephews; and his longtime partner, Cindy Nelson.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Edward and many close friends and relatives.

A short visitation will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan 13, at Arsulowicz Brothers, 3525 Remembrance Road NW, Grand Rapids 49534 and at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan 14, at Ottawa Center Chapel, 8991 Leonard St, Coopersville, where a funeral service and military honors will commence with a luncheon to follow.
