School bus driver Alice Matulaitis-Baldiga dies

Alice Ann Matulaitis-Baldiga, 68, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022.

Alice was born in Grand Rapids and grew up on the west side. She attended Mt. Mercy Academy and graduated in 1972. She later drove school bus for Wayland Union Schools for 27 years.

Alice was a great cook and an avid gardener. She was a loving mother, wife, and aunt.

Sheis survived by her husband of 36 years, Michael Baldiga; sons Anthony Baldiga, Vinson Baldiga; siblings Raymond (Antonia) Matulaitis of Hernando Beach, FL, Rosemary Johnson of Venice, FL; and many extended relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Helen Matulaitis.

Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation with the family will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home (Dorr chapel), 4330 18th St.3, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.

In memory of Alice and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choosing.
