Word on the street is that a second candidate may be applying for the soon to be vacant seat on the Wayland City Council.
Councilwoman Jennifer Antel was circulating a petition Monday evening on behalf of Joe Kramer, before the start of the council meeting. She explained that she was helping Kramer in his bid to run for election to the seat in November, not for the appointment.
Kramer is a longtime leader in the local Boy Scouts program, a paramedic with Wayland Area Emergency Services (WAEMS) and a part-time vodeographer on behalf of television sports programs.
Kramer joins former Wayland teacher and school board member Jeff Salisbury in expressing interest in the position. Salisbury is applying for appointment.
The seat will become vacant June 18 with the resignation of Tracy Bivins. Whomever is appointed will serve at least until Nov. 20. The appointee will be eligible to run for the full two-year seat in the November general election.
According the public notice published by the City of Wayland, “Members of the City Council must be a resident of the City for not less than one year, and shall be a registered voter.
