A New Year’s Eve morning crash snarled traffic north of the Dorr Exit (No. 68) on the U.S.-131 expressway at 144th Avenue, just before 10 a.m.
A northbound semi-truck that exceeded height limit for the bridge, struck the overpass and three vehicles behind it crashed. Emergency personnel were hampered by the traffic jam in their attempt to respond. There were indications that two people reported minor injuries.
The northbound lanes on U.S.-131 were shut down for cleanup because one of the semis was a tanker hauling milk, and landed in the ditch. There was no indication the milk was leaking.
Traffic for the expressway and 144th Avenue was restored later Tuesday.
The Leighton Township Fire Department assisted Dorr with the highway shutdown.
