Gayle Lee Stevens, a 1966 graduate of Wayland High School, died Thursday, Dec. 5. She was 77.
She was born Sept. 30, 1947, to Gale and Margaret Truax of Hopkins.
Gayle lived a life full of love, dedication, and resilience. She leaves behind a legacy of love and family.
She is survived by her brother, Rex (Sally) Truax of Hopkins; children Dee (Tracey) Slater of Hamilton, Linda Slater of Traverse City, John (Ashley) Stevens of Hopkins, and Mary (Michael) Barck of Kalamazoo; stepdaughters Dianne Slone of Hudsonville and Donna Jones of Seale, Ala.
Gayle was also a proud grandmother to 15 grandchildren and great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Bill Stevens of Flint; and a host of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands Edwin Slater and Eugene Stevens; stepson, Dale Stevens; grandson, Brian Slone; parents Gale and Margaret Truax; many cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins; as well as her sister-in-law, Lila Stevens.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1235 135th Ave., Wayland. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with visitation from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
