Florence (DeHaan) Eylander, age 93, of Wayland, died Saturday, May 7.
Florence was born Oct. 23, 1928, in Highland, Mich. She worked at Pine Rest for 25 years.
She was a charter member of Wayland Christian Reformed Church and was the senior member of the church’s Red Hat Society. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, reading, and she enjoyed going to many of her grandkids’ and great-grandkids’ sporting events.
Florence was preceded in death by her husband, John; children John and Linda; parents George and Nellie DeHaan; in-laws Ed, Minnie, and Carrie Eylander; siblings Siebren (Reka) DeHaan, Theresa (Marvin) VanderJagt, Angie (Titus) Agema, Thomas (Betty) DeHaan, Sally (George) VanDriel, Edith (Gerald) Lucas, Ilene DeHaan; in-laws Shirley (Arlie) Syers, Grace (Gene) James, Wilma (Jay) Kraima.
She is survived by her children Mary Lou (Willy) Nieuwenhuis, Pam Eylander, Tammy Hinkle; grandchildren (and great-grandchildren), Kelly and Chris Moleski (Jaydon, Carter, Elliot), Kristy and Jeremy Shepard (Madeline, Molly), Kim and Tory Flynn (Kylie, Trevin), Ross and Casey Hinkle (Weston, Riley); sister, Evelyn (Kerwin) Boven; brother, James DeHaan; and many nieces and nephews.
Florence’s funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, at the Christian Reformed Church, 303 E. Elm St., Wayland, with Pastor Jerry Zandstra officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Guests also are invited to join the family at Leighton Township (Hooker) Cemetery following the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions made to Wings of Hope Hospice (Allegan).
