Marvin J. Boogaard, age 70, of Middleville, died Thursday, May 25.
He was born in Grand Rapids Jan. 4, 1947, the son of Marvin J. Boogaard Sr. and Theresa (Roberts) Doran. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy.
Marv is survived by his wife Linda; his children Lisa (John) Kessner and Bryan Boogaard; his grandchildren Crystina (Brandon) Emperor, Dakota Howley, Hannah Kessner, Trenton Boogaard, Savanna Boogaard, and Layne Boogaard; three great-grandchildren; his siblings Albert “Skip” (Sherri Davis) Steil, Evelyn Cronk, Pat Graverson, Sue Thaler, Ada Howell, Mary (Denny) Linington, Carol Thompson and Steve Boogaard, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended relatives and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his infant great-granddaughter Charlotte Emperor; his parents; brother Glenn Steil and four brothers-in-law James Thompson, Larry Cronk, Charley Graverson and Gerald Howell.
A Celebration of Life to honor Marv will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, at the Wayland VFW Hall, 735 S. Main St., Wayland. A private family interment will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the Wayland VFW.
