Ivan Mac Sooy, died at his residence in Orangeville Monday, Dec. 2. He was 83.
He was born on Nov. 29, 1941, in PlainwelI, the son of Arthur L. and Greta Cram Sooy.
As a young man he joined US Navy Seabees and traveled extensively. Mac retired from Flowserve, formerly “Durametallic”. He loved being active with fishing, hunting, traveling to Montana, gardening, tractors and had a love for beagles.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years Paula (Pinks); step daughter Amy (Jeff) Haight of Shelbyville; two sisters: Ruby Robart of Lansing, Ginger Bish of North Carolina; a special hunting partner and nephew, Steve Pencola of Howell; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mac was preceded in death by his parents; his son Ivan Mac Jr., brothers: James, Arlyn “Bob”, Arthur Jr.; and sister: Myrtle Pencola.
Relatives and friends may meet with Ivan‘s family from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5 at the Williams Gores Funeral Home in Delton, where a funeral will take place at 10 a.m. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post 45.
